For the last two years we've been hosting a laidback Sunday afternoon event at the Tilbury called Aprés. A BBQ, friendly bar staff and turntables on the balcony in the sunshine have set the scene for these under-the-radar sessions that give our local and international guests (often performing under alias) the chance to play more diverse sets than they might get to play in the club.

The Aprés vinyl series, named after our weekly Sunday afternoon event, showcases music by artists from both Australia and abroad. Past guests have included Brennan Green, Joakim, Jazzanova, Todd Terje, Mock & Toof, Lovefingers, Aeroplane, Canyons, Jamie Lloyd, Idjut Boys and Padded Cell to name a few; the sound of this series presented itself naturally.

With the first 12" released in March this year, we're proud to unveil the second instalment of the Aprés vinyl series. On the second trip out we kick things off with Australian producer Touch Sensitive's (also a member of Van She) ‘Body Stop’, an italo disco stomper that’s been at home in the FC catalogue for quite some time. Recently unearthed by London based producer Toby Tobias in a chart of ‘Hidden Gems’ it seemed only natural to ask Toby to remix Body Stop and the result sees Toby putting more space in the track, pushing it further onto the dance-floor and keeping it playful all at once.

On the flip we take the UK connection a little further with Leeds based producer Bonar Bradberry floating into cosmic territory with ‘Fought & Won’ whilst Toby Tobias turns in some glorious tour-bus-disco on ‘Azul Blue’, guitars and acid lines sitting comfortably side by side for the ride.

Being both a music and design team, artwork has always been an integral part of all Future Classic projects, Aprés being no exception. To complement the series Future Classic commissioned original works by visual artist Gemma Smith, whose geometric abstraction sits perfectly with the cosmic sounds of the records. Gemm a has exhibited in curated and solo exhibitions in Australia and overseas including Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and Contemporary Australia: Optimism, at the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, in Brisbane.
